Maddox and Allison were the "A+ Attitude Award" winners. They are good role models for our class. Next week, Mrs. Foley will be giving out the "Heart of a Hero" award to a student who shows exceptional kindness toward others.
Julia was the Scientist of the Week. She showed us an experiment with pennies to explain copper oxide. Even though her demonstration was just 15 minutes, the next day the pennies that sat in the vinegar and salt solution for 5 minutes had turned green . . . just like the Statue of Liberty.
On Tuesday, we took a Discovery Assessment test on math. Most students thought is was easier than the last DA math test we took in early December. Since we had covered more multiplication, division, and fractions skills in the past 2 months, we felt comfortable answering more of the test questions.
In music, Mrs. Penner taught us to sing cannons and rounds. "That's the Way to the Zoo" was a fun chant.
Since our student-led conferences are on Friday, we spent much of the week adding pieces and reflecting on our progress this year. When our parents come, we will show them our reading, writing, and math work samples and set an academic goal together. The walk-in hours are 8:30-11:30. Plan to spend 20-30 minutes. It will be a great time . . . and there will be snacks!
